DMS powders maintains efficiencies with managed IT service from Netsurit

DMS Powders, a global market leader in the productions, distribution and marketing of dense media ferrosilicon powders for the mining sector, awarded the tender for a new IT services provider to managed IT support services and consulting specialist Netsurit in 2017.

The business has a long history of supplying powders for diamond recovery, iron ore, scrap-metal recycling and manganese. It started as part of anchor in 1949. In 2006, DMS powders was sold to a consortium of investors led by Siyanda Inkwali and the independent company Dense Medium Separation Powders was established.

“We maintain our leadership by investing continuously in our productions facilities, our employees and ongoing research and development,” says a DMS Powders representative. “Before we contracted with Netsurit, we had any IT challenges. Chief among them were the empty promises from our previous service provider. Now, we know that the IT side of the business won’t interfere with or halt the process of supplying our products to clients worldwide.”

DMS Powders had a storage area network (SAN) that was running out of space and virtual environment that was unstable due to misconfiguration, resulting in a lot of downtime for the business, with no reasons or solutions offered by the service provider.

“Netsurit has been on site for just over a year, and we had quick results from the start,” says the representative. “Our SAN space and virtual environment was sorted out in a couple of hours, we now have a proper support system in place that allows us to plan upgrades so that we can take advantage of the latest technology available without having to stress about whether or not it will work. We have hardly any downtime, and our own technicians are able to bounce ideas around with the vastly experiences Netsurit team members. Previously, no one could help them.
